Despite the propensity towards multiribbed v-belts in engine design, there remains a huge selling opportunity for v-belts. With the top ten references, supplying 1.4 million vehicles across 2,200 applications in the UK car parc, supplying v-belts is a business opportunity often overlooked.

Vehicles including the Mitsubishi Challenger 2.5 TDiC (98-09), Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 (93-00) and Nissan Shogun (00>), all use v-belts to drive low-ouput alternators and water pumps. The Ford Transit 12.50 1.5 8V (58-65) also uses v-belts. This particular model was one of the first of its kind to be fitted with an alternator; replacing the less reliable and less efficient dynamo.
